SKYLIFT GUIDE
How Much Electricity Does a Home Elevator Use?
Understand electricity use and estimate running costs before choosing your home elevator.
A home elevator has no fixed electricity consumption. Usage depends on the lift system, motor, trips, load and standby power. Ask for energy figures for the proposed model.
Estimate running costs by asking for monthly energy use in kilowatt-hours for your expected trips, then apply your electricity tariff. A qualified electrician can advise whether a submeter is suitable. Request running and standby consumption where available.
Electrical supply, circuit breaker and wiring requirements vary by model and site. A qualified specialist should check the nameplate and available supply before installation. Voltage and phase requirements are not the same for every lift.
During a power outage, the response depends on the equipment fitted. Ask whether an automatic rescue device is available, what it covers and how to request help. Read our guide to elevator power outages.
Before signing, request the motor rating, electrical requirements, estimated running and standby use, lighting specifications, warranty and maintenance details. Sky Lift can help review options suited to your site.
- Ask for an estimate of monthly kilowatt-hours for the proposed model and your expected usage.
