SKYLIFT GUIDE
How Long Does Elevator Installation Take? From Survey to Handover
The installation timeline varies by project. Look beyond the days spent on site: ask when the survey starts, when components will arrive, when the site must be ready and what is required before testing and handover. Request a written schedule tailored to your building, including the starting point and dependencies for each stage.
Does the installation period include supply and site preparation?
Not necessarily. A quotation may cover installation work on site only, while shaft preparation or manufacturing and delivery may require separate time. Ask about each stage, which stages can overlap, and whether durations are measured in working days or calendar days.
Project stages from request to operation
- Survey and requirements: the team reviews the building type, number of stops, available space and users’ needs.
- Specifications and agreement: review the specifications, scope, responsibilities and proposed schedule before signing.
- Site preparation and component supply: check the required works, component availability and delivery arrangements against the agreement.
- Installation and adjustment: the specialist team installs, connects and adjusts the elevator according to the selected system and site conditions.
- Testing and handover: applicable tests and requirements are completed before handover and entry into service.
The details vary by project and agreement. Ask who is responsible for each task and how readiness for the next stage will be confirmed.
What can affect the schedule?
- Readiness of the shaft, entrances, electrical supply and other required site works.
- Number of stops, elevator type, components and selected finishes.
- Availability and manufacturing or delivery schedules for materials.
- Site access, working hours and coordination with other contractors.
- Changes after the survey or during work, and the timing of applicable tests and procedures.
What should you ask before signing?
- Does the schedule include supply, site preparation, testing and handover?
- When does each period start, and are days counted as working or calendar days?
- Which tasks belong to the owner or main contractor, and when must they be completed?
- How will specification changes or site-readiness delays be handled?
- What documents and tests are required at handover, and what warranty and maintenance terms are included?
Is an existing building different from a new villa?
An existing building may need an assessment of available space, access and any necessary structural or electrical work before a programme can be agreed. Avoid using another project’s timeline as a commitment; request a survey and a schedule for your building.
Prepare for your next step
Share the building type, city, number of stops and whether the building is existing or under construction, along with any available drawings or photos. Our team can review your requirements and discuss what is needed for a suitable quotation.
